100. Young Lovers

Hapless lovers bear their trusting heart
Newfound romance just learning how to start
Star filled eyes reflecting grins and smiles
Total honesty given, no need for guilt or trials
Fingers entwined grasping for newly found strength
Legs taking half steps, no strides at full length
Excitement is bred at each new encounter
Focused on each other, there is no one else out there
Words spoken with a perfumed veil
Living life as participants in a fairy tale
Time soon elapses and reality sets in
Eyes become darkened with fear and regret
Expectations fall, promises not met
Simple white lies take a life of their own
Hands clenched in anger, worries to the bone
Walks become hurried, no time for romance
Work becomes the focus, young love has no real chance
Voices scream loudly desiring just to be heard
Broken hearts shattered, there is no last word
Lessons can be learned if you desire to see
How things really turn out, is up to you and me
