106. The Blindfold

Who needs the bars or even walls
When a blindfold is placed upon the eyes

If one cannot see what lies out there
How can someone know what a prison signifies

Sure you can hear and have the freedom to touch
And have the ability to taste and smell

But robbed of our most precious sense of all
In a world lacking vision we just don’t do well

It’s truly amazing the affect some cloth can have
When it is wrapped so tightly around our head

Imprisoned by our own lack of knowing and control
Even the strongest of men would surely dread

So I was delighted when the game did end
And my eyes were again free to look and see

Losing one’s sight is a humbling experience
How wonderful it is just to be free!
