113. Sunset

Sunset fell upon my feet and slept
As Mother Night wrapped her veil around me
Though I could no longer see
I bathed in the beauty of the dark
My ears rejoiced in the splendor of nature’s call
Heralding the hunters to gather for a feast
Small rodents scurried for burrows and safety
Knowing that nightfall was a mortal neighbor
I lit the campfire and smiled to myself
Absorbing the heat within my soul
Alone, separated from life and emotion
A living testimony to God’s ability to forgive
