129. Before

I awoke this morning having left a dream
I was surrounded by kids and happiness
Just content on being a father it would seem
The dream had filled me with thoughts of before
When I still was the man of the house
And couldn’t wait to open the front door
The smells and sounds were beyond compare
Fresh baked goods and newly washed sheets
Cartoons and laughter and barking would fill the air
Alas that was such a long time ago
Before time stole away my past
Before things turned so bad and I really had to go
Though I do miss those days of yore
When I would be awakened by all the commotion
Times moves on and nothing is like before
