175. Flipping Burgers

I yearn to once again
Regain my splendor and riches

But flipping burgers and dogs
Is preferable to digging ditches

My walls are filled with awards
I have degrees up the ying yang

Past bosses extol my virtues
Of excellence they did once sang

My resume floats with honors
Varied experience do I possess

Success would seem assured
But my life is a complete mess

The economy took my job
Six figures is now my weight

What the bill collectors didn’t take
Went to taxes for the State

Yet hope remains deep inside
A quitter I’ll never be

I still smile and do my best
Success awaits for me
