| 176. Darkness Darkness provides what light cannot A blanket to our visual senses It covers our world with unknown thoughts Obvious truths turned to mysterious suspenses With blackness we become confused Our paths are lost in the shadows We search for hope and sanity Going in a direction we never chose We are creatures of the light Who thrive on what the sun has given We thirst for heat and tenderness Thinking illumination leads to heaven But why we dread dark so much Is truly something to explore For when night does fall on us We seek salvation behind our front door Locks and padlocks can’t protect All who dread what they cannot see For thieves can always get aside Gaining entry even without a key So embrace darkness like a friend For nothing in life is ever really known Rest assured God is looking over you Even outside the light you are not alone |
