180. Faith

When I stumbled I felt your touch
Although I could not feel your fingers
Yet I sensed your presence next to me
The warmth within my heart still lingers

You’ve always been there just in time
Through all my trials and sorrows
Although I’ve failed to recognize you
You’ve insured I always had my tomorrows

I know that some people frown
When I write about my belief in God
But surely their tones would be changed
If in my footsteps they must trod

I haven’t always been the best of souls
Forgiveness was not within my calling
Though I cannot see or feel your face
Of your existence I do pray and sing

A faith in God has no cost
No tithe must we ever have to pay
To see the world around us with hope
Is to know He guides us through the day

While I do not profess to be religious
Or to know His written words or wisdom
I take great comfort in being one of his children
I give thanks for being permitted in his Kingdom
