Regardless is just a word
That means no matter what
I’ll do or say something else
Despite how deep my words cut
It is a word that just resides
In our vocabulary of meanings
We use it when we try to hide
Our lack of decision or believings
Scholars have amused themselves
When this word has come to pass
Its meaning is nearly lost in translation
When converted for a Latin mass
Alas it lives within our minds
A testament to our language and speech
For it exists to create the semblance of doubt
And keep truth just outside our reach
