| 206. Rhymes I never really figured out Mother Goose Or why Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall I never could grasp sticking your thumb in a pie Or why Mother Hubbard didn’t go shopping at the mall I was confused that Peter Pan flew And that his girlfriend was some little fairy I couldn’t get why the wolf wasted his breath When there was more pork at the store then he could carry And what about Ms. Muffitt and her spiders? Didn’t she realize that even they needed to be fed And the little girl who wore a red hood How could she be fooled with a wolf in her bed? Talk about weird, what about those bears The family that found Goldilocks in their house And let’s not forget the poor farmer’s wife Who had a hard time killing of all things a blind mouse And why I am thinking of strange encounters What about one with a princess and seven old men What kind of lessons were we being taught That the world was just as crazy back then? But her I now sit with a child on my lap Reading delightfully from some nursery rhyme For no matter how the tale goes or ends I couldn’t think of a better way to spend time |
