21. Blue Sunglasses

The grass is always greener to those with sunglasses of blue
To have and to have not has nothing to do with vows of matrimony

Sounds of seduction are just as loud to those who cannot hear
People with acquaintances but no love will always be lonely

The fast car, fast life, fast walk, and fast-talk lead to faster money
Poster children to what life can offer for those on the fast track

Slow learners, slow talkers, slow walkers, and those who don’t quite get it
Disdained by peers, snubbed by society, discarded guests that will never be asked
back

Countless souls searching for things that will never be in their grasp
Aged reminders of things that were and have been but will never be again

Building upon bridges burned and torched by those who have gone before
Ancestors turning over in graves, squandered dowries growing too thin

Birth flavored lives colored by all that has been given
The roll of the dice has nothing to do with what the future has to give

Sterling silver spoons providing crutches to handicapped personalities
Retirement sounding discontentment and what it was to live
