230. Not To Be

When I was young
I saw your face
Among the other girls
I fell madly in love
Hoping that you’d see me
Alas it was not to be
You disappeared into the night
I tried to follow you
I ran as best I could
But of you I could not see
I passed the years
Blinded by love
I had no interest in others
Though I dated and wed
I couldn’t get you from my mind
When I was older
I saw your face
Among the other women
I fell madly in love
Hoping that we could meet this time
But such fantasies do not pass
You disappeared into the night
I tried to follow you
I ran as best I could
But of you I could not see
So I now die
With you in my thoughts
A girl I didn’t know
Would life had been different
Our love was not to be
