| 233. To Baghdad To Baghdad! To Baghdad! Was our rallying cry Our army pushed forward into the desert with young men poised and ready to die Explosions blossomed like rain upon fields of shrapnel and gore The sounds of machine gun fire echoed aloud toward the enemy before We are trained warriors with weapons and machines among the very best The enemy was equipped with blood and antiques and for them there would be no rest Genghis Khan would smile at our speed and how we caused devastation The enemy was given no choice to fight as dying awaited their hesitation Our bombers flew way above their guns and bombs creating destruction Fired from a thousand miles away our missiles insured the enemy’s force reduction Although we encountered some small fights there was nothing to cause worry Our victory was quite insured to their capital we did hurry The media called us heroes and said we were the best We just said we were doing our job so we could return home to get some needed rest Unlike the past when such invasions took many long years We entered the city of Baghdad in three weeks amid their citizen’s jeers So now we guard a country whose only purpose is their oil It is the most God forsaken place where the heat can make water boil But we are just soldiers who do what we are told We just hope to survive this place and to live until we’re quite old |
