245. Sweets

I smell the sweets stored in the case
Such pastries I’d love to devour
I’m being so good on my diet
But don’t get mush for an hour

I’ve lost ten pounds without a catch
Taking only a month to get this goal
I’ve been on this latest diet fad
But for some chocolate I’d give my soul

The people around me smile and eat
Succulent morsels passing through their lips
I try to restrain myself and to be good
Knowing that delights end up on my hips

Yet a simple taste is all it took
The waitress had been so very kind
I’d decided to engorge myself on sweets
Tomorrow the lost pounds I’ll surely find
