| 247. Foibles We fell in love with JFK Despite what he did or said But we hated Lyndon Johnson too Because of the ears upon his head When Nixon came we did applaud We thought he’d do it right But when he said he wasn’t a crook We regarded him in a different light Poor Gerard Ford was such a clown He stumbled as much as he did fumble Jimmy Carter wasn’t much better His diplomacy caused the Shah to tumble It took Ronald Reagan to set things right The Germans had some bricks to break Had he not built up our military force George Bush would have no choices to take Instead this George won a quick Gulf War Because he moved troops there on the double Bill Clinton had a way with his words But with girls they got him in trouble He showed that even great men lie about sex Especially when it involves interns with brown hair And then came the second Bush almost like his father Who also had to deal with a Middle Eastern affair When two airliners attacked our innocence George retaliated and attacked terror where it grew Despite what people say about war and his actions Surely if they were him they would have made war too So as another election year does approach Will you vote for someone good or bad? For regardless of who you do elect Will they be able to deal with a life so sad? While the candidates posture and pose And strive to obtain the power they seek When it is all over nothing ever really remains Except for the foibles that we’ll one day speak |
