| 25. Wonderment I gazed upon a single bird gliding amongst the clouds With wings spread outward majestically; a king within his own domain I dreamed a moment in distant wonder and pondered about his life To be so carefree and innocent; soaring so far above the nation I realized then that we were much the same apart from feather and flesh We both soar above our concerns; life has been good and there is nothing left to attain I know now that the lightness I feel has nothing to do with flying My heart is full and overflowing; my mind gushes forth with anticipation I sensed your presence in my sleep but realized that I was wide awake A vision of unfettered loveliness; Athena herself would grin with pride I closed my eyes to embrace the thoughts that satiate my very being Contentment was just a vacant stare; having no substance until you cast your smile I thank the heavens everyday for giving me riches beyond silver or gold A chance encounter now charts my course; prudence dictates my feelings I now do hide I would gladly cast aside all that is to journey forth and take flight We are but two birds of a feather; enjoying the seeds of wonderment if only for awhile |
