357. Lesson Learned

Do not fail me
Came the cry
As the harpoon
Hit the blubbery skin
The cable jerked
As the point
Entered deep
Causing pain within
The whale did cry
A wounded soul
As it plunged
Into the deep below
Cheers of joy
Turned to horror
As the ship’s crew
Were tossed to and fro
An alarm rang
To cut the cable
But no man
Could act so fast
Man’s greed
Sank quickly
A lessoned learned
But not the last
