389. The Storm

The ship did toss in the storm’s fury
The sails flapping in the gale
Back and forth the ship did toss
The sailors worked desperately not to fail
The captain stood at his command post
His voice barking orders to the crew
The situation went from bad to worse
Yet he told them he’d get them through
A gallant effort the ship did make
Its bow crashing against the waves
King Neptune was trying to do his best
To take them all to their graves
Through hours of battle the ship did go
Each moment nearly a losing cause
But again and again it righted itself
Sometimes defying nature’s unforgivable laws
And then it was that light did appear
Sunlight peaked through the sky
A short time later the sea did calm
How they survived no one would dare ask why
