I Dreamed I sat alone a kindergarten child Amongst the toys and sand I dreamed of a future graced with gifts And holding my father’s strong hand I sat alone a grade school wonder Mathematics and spelling my domain I dreamed of a future filled with wonder My father’s favor I would gain I sat alone a high school teenager Awards given for all I knew and did I dreamed of a future filled with decisions Abandoning my father’s kid I sat alone a young adult Many mistakes made along the way I dreamed that I was in kindergarten again Holding my father’s hand again today |
