412. For A Moment

For a moment I was a star
Cameras flashing to catch my photo
I’d come in first at an Olympic race
It was more exciting than you’ll know
News reporters vied for my attention
My words were like liquid gold
Everything about me was done with such haste
Seemingly to catch it all before it grew old
I appeared on TV and various media print
My face was everywhere I did look
Agents called to represent my new fame
And my life was to be made into a book
Then a day later everything stopped
Someone else had won a new race
Although I still have my gold medal
I now feel like I came in second place
