Another person fell without fanfare
His body riddled by guns and grenades
An unarmed stranger seeking only to help
Killed by those he wished to give aid
A mother will mourn with her children
A father no longer to return home
Life taken by people without honor
A broken heart left to survive alone
Reasons given for such cowardly acts
Hidden behind faith in their God
Failure to see that invaders don’t bring gifts
Or seek to assist where they do trod
How many lives will die in such violence
Innocents slaughtered to prove an issue
What does it take to realize the dead can’t surrender
And truce comes not from a widow’s tissue
