| 459. A Missing Daughter I awoke to find my daughter missing Though she left so long ago It’s been years since I last saw her Where she’s been I do not know I feel sorrow to realize I was remiss To allow a child to drift away is a shame So concerned was I with my own affairs Regardless of the excuses I have only me to blame A child is a living part of our being The reason that the world does go on They are a memorial to love everlasting To be cherished though physically gone I vow to do better from this day forth To never forget the gift God gave me Life means nothing if our children are forgotten How important can strangers be? |
