| 471. Shark’s Mouth So sleek she looked in her paint A war bird in her fine glory Though aged when she was first born She survived through her remarkable story Abandoned at birth she was sent away Taken by strangers who took what was given Transported across strange lands she went To a land where rickshaws were ridden When she first appeared all were delighted Though no match for her intended foe They gave her war paint and warrior talons To create an impression wherever she did go Into flight she was soon sent To battle the enemy in the air With courage and luck she did triumph Destroying the enemy with panache and flair With a shark’s mouth painted across her nose She and her sisters soon ruled the eastern sky They showed the world what courage can do And made the enemy too afraid to fly For many years she flew and fought With her the Flying Tigers gained everlasting fame Though considered obsolete and too old to fight The P-40 made for herself quite a name |
