| 477. Arthur Rise above your petty squabbles Urged the ruler to his knights He looked upon his lords with disgust For their endless meaningless fights He trusted not a single noble For they all aspired to his crown Yet he needed them to join together And to defend his Camelot town He toasted to the rising kingdom Its greatness rested in their hands For if they failed to set aside their differences The invaders would take their lands As a group they were all quite mighty No invader could assemble such an army They were skilled and trained for wars And could easily dispatch invasion from land or sea Yet from within they could all fail or fall For their weakness rested within their own heads A small group of stealthy saboteurs could win Having only to kill the nobles in their beds But the lords refused and protested mightily Each demanding more land and gold Before the night was halfway finished The king knew he had to do something bold It was then that he challenged them all Each to face him in their own death fight If they won they could take his throne But if not he’d own their lands this night Though concerned at once they did agree Each nobleman stood to face their king After a score were impaled and killed Their allegiance to the throne they did bring So it was that birth was given to England She has been nursed and grown since then Thanks to some courage and a fine sword King Arthur became known as the leader of all men |
