491. Stone Cold

Where are the memories of younger years
When happiness was the goal of the day
What happened to a life so carefree
When the only objective in life was to play
Why did we long to be so much older
When we have to but see our parent’s faces
Why didn’t we understand that we should wait
For they would have gladly traded us places
To age gracefully is quite misunderstood
Chemical treatments and surgery don’t stop time
The brain loses hold of things it once knew
Yet what it retains has no reason or rhyme
So take solace in living each day
Regardless of whether young or old
No one can control the time that is ticking
For in the end we all do turn stone cold
