493. Our Leader

He was our leader or so we thought
Both founder and president was he
Yet he spoke from both sides of his mouth
His deceptions and lies we couldn’t see
Though he spoke as though we were family
Profit and riches were his only goal
He did what he could to make us feel special
But he held no fondness for us in his soul
Without remorse he did as he pleased
He managed our future with a tainted pen
While we worked as though nothing was amiss
He sought only to achieve a personal win
So it was that the cards began to topple
He pleaded and said he’d done no wrong
Employees were fired and held to blame
But for us to learn the truth didn’t take long
Needless to say the company is no more
His greed cost us our jobs and hope
For what he did to all who trusted him
His journey should finish at the end of a rope
