494. Quite Deceiving

With hair of silken pleasures
She enchanted me beyond compare
Never had I seen such beauty
My gaze was frozen in a stare
Though no word was spoken
I sensed communication did exist
She tilted her head just so
Such beauty was hard to resist
I tried to speak but could not
So paralyzed was I with fear
My appearance wasn’t comparable
Yet I had the urge to draw her near
Others tried to secure her speech
Though none remained very long
She glanced occasionally but saw me not
For in her world I didn’t belong
I cursed the heavens for who I was
No chance would I ever make
Though smart and witty I had average looks
To the altar this woman I would never take
Yet it was as I resigned my defeat
That another woman approached and said a word
She spoke and commented on my good looks
And asked me to join her for a drink if I could
So it was at that moment I grew
Realizing that looks are quite deceiving
For if I looked for only good looks
With this girl I wouldn’t be leaving
