519. Gate 30

Gate 30 wasn’t a destination
It was such a world away
A point of reference for the past
A stopping point for things to say
No airport lounge could mean so much
As a place to say goodbyes
It was now a solitary monument
For my numerous aborted tries
I sat alone surrounded by others
My thoughts jumbled in slow motion
I tried to think why I was there
My reasoning clouded in emotion
Things could have been different than we thought
If only you had given me a chance
I might have been the love you sought
Yet now I leave as failed lovers do
A broken heart to match my despair
For once the door at Gate 30 closes
I depart forever to another life out there
