520. Another Day

I soar above the world below
A simple passenger on a flight
Although I can see nothing out there
I feel your presence on this night
I had a feeling when we took off
No longer would my feet touch the ground
While I couldn’t quite explain it
It was much too late to turn around
I sense you watch our little journey
Knowing that time is not a friend
Surely you’re just waiting to arrive
Counting the seconds until our end
Others might think I am confused
For air travel causes some to fret
Yet tonight I know what I feel
I’d be rich if with you I could only bet
I look around and begin to smell fear
Those around me must also sense your power
Though nothing is said your thoughts are clear
You are getting closer each passing hour
It is only when the pilot announces our arrival
That I know you’ve let us slip away
No doubt something else caught your fancy
For us you’ll wait and come another day
