530. Where Winners Once Tread

The pounding of feet upon the ground
Muscles pushing forward in motion
Arms swing in rhythmic delight
Faces stretched in serious emotion
Beads of sweat roll down the brow
Eyes search for the finish ahead
Chests heave heavily in painful bliss
Following the path where winners once tread
Seconds elapse as does the race
The winner lunging to claim victory
A new Olympic champion will take the stand
A lifelong goal accomplished for all to see
