| 533. Courage A solemn woman of great fortitude Two children clasping tightly at her skirt Her face wears the bruises of disparity The remnants of abuse stained upon her shirt Friends and family have faded away The pain of suffering a deterrent to salvation So she walks alone into the dark night Courage to leave bringing great elation Love once so tender replaced by terror Liquor and failures turn cold the heart Attempts to return sanity supplanted by anger Aggression necessitates the need to depart Although the unknown waits as she walks She fears not what lies out there Her children are safe and by her side Faith restored by strangers who care |
