538. Wishing

Stalwart souls sitting in the sun
Upon turbulent waters they wait
Pelicans pace the sky above
Fish below swim to escape their fate
The waves crash upon the surface
Disturbing that which we cannot see
Life and death mix harmoniously together
Each passing moment a reminder of things to be
The screams of excitement of young children
Unheard by those that live below
Summertime exists only for those who enjoy it
Wishing things were different doesn’t make it so
