542. Before You Go

I sit indifferently to things that change
My life has eclipsed my need to know
The excitement of youth has turned cold grey
No longer do I yearn to see things grow
Love has come and disappeared so quickly
Things I’ve cherished are no longer there
The pride I once took in being so brilliant
Has faded into the lives of those who don’t care
Since I was young I’ve dreamed of forever
The elation to succeed until I worked no more
Instead when the day came to be jubilant
There was nothing but emptiness to enjoy
So take heed young readers live for the day
For life does not exist to soothe your soul
Plan not so far that you forget the present
Life passes much too quickly before you go
