| 562. I Stood Alone I stood there alone although surrounded Thousands of voices serenading my ears The weight of the world fell on my shoulders No man now could have greater fears I’d wished and dreamed for this occasion My life eclipsed by what I would do For a moment in time nothing else mattered But what would happen no one really knew My bat weighed a ton as I raised it high As I crouched ready at home plate The score was tied at the bottom of the ninth A single pitch at full count now sealed my fate And so it was that I did swing My bat connecting with the baseball As I had dreamed it did what I wanted The game winning home run now over the wall |
