| 593. What Happens When You ask me questions as though I will answer Adulthood is still so many years away Though I look mature my mind is filled with fear The words I speak have no meaning on this day Pulled like some taffy I feel your concern While I say I’m fine I’m really not The pain of divorce is difficult for the parents Try being an adolescent who is stuck in such a spot To go or to stay is a terrible decision to make The choice of whom to prefer slices so deep No child should have to understand the desire for freedom Nor to watch how desperation causes parents to weep Think carefully of your willingness to depart Lives changed dramatically affect those of young blood Perceptions of normalcy is altered forever Futures no longer possible with a new meaning of love The desire to start all over is easy to understand Even the young want another or second chance Yet the ability to succeed in the future needs nurturing Forever crippled by the thought of distorted romance Seek solace among your troubled deep thoughts Remember when times were lighter than air Hold close to you those you regard dearly Think what happens when you’re no longer there |
