596. Holiday Season

I stood outside and admired the scene
Great pleasure did I receive from the sight
The street was lit with buildings all aglow
Reminding me silently of that special night
Though alone I felt His love deep inside
My thoughts were filled with what had been
In my mind I could see that one moment
When He came into the world way back then
No doubt He never knew of the effect He had
When all men would look high into the sky
While no star now guided me on my journey
I knew where to go without wondering why
So into the church I walked in His light
Guided by those who’d come before
I gazed upon His face inside my soul
My life now changed forever more
He’d taken my hand on that very day
Though celebrating His birth was not the reason
But it was then that I understood why He lived
Peace possible everyday not just this holiday season
