| 597. Peace On Earth Snowflakes danced lazily in the air The evenings chill adding to anticipation A light wind from the north heralded the night Bringing children excitement and jubilation The tree was decked in lights and tinsel galore Brightly colored ornaments placed lovingly just so Presents bundled in ribbons stood guard Keeping young hands at bay without saying no The fire crackled as it warmed our hearts Our souls comforted by this special occasion Christmas carols serenaded our ears with joy The ticking of the clock bringing such youthful elation Only pleasantries exist as hope is expressed Peace on earth surely rides in a red sleigh When all do depart and sleep for the night Hope for the future arrives each Christmas Day |
