601. My Forever

No loss or grief do I have today
No more thoughts of war do I now worry
The sounds of battle no longer affect my sleeping
I have slipped away from mankind’s fury
My life cut short by men much older
Wisdom forgotten with the tip of a pen
Thousands like me were ordered into battle
No consideration ever given of our ability to win
Kindred spirits were we when we came
Loyalty unmatched by those on earth
Onward and forward was our battle cry
Death precludes all reason for birth
The marching of feet once so reassuring
Marks the cadence to my resting place
No more sunsets will I be seeing
My forever now spent in His loving grace
