602. My Life

I watched my life drip silently away
The essence of my being spread all around
Best intentions fade so quickly when they’re wrong
No chance for correction beneath the hallowed ground
Yet memories of my past I did not recollect
No brilliant light came to guide my way
My last thoughts filled with the pain of deception
Remorse not permitted for actions I now pay
Take heed you who are of the invincible age
Even Superman can feel his Achilles heel
A misspent moment drunk behind the wheel
The prospect of death ever more so plainly real
Sixteen years was all I did enjoy
My dreams still stored in places of my youth
Everything vanished in a time oh so short
That I now die my only certain truth
