| 623. I Pledge The ticking of the clock resonates in my head My heart keeps time as does my breathing Blood pulses through my body without emotion It is remembering you that I am now thinking Surely fate once foretold this sordid wisdom Two souls so unlike would together soon be With clasped hands they would face all challenges Their reality as one no one else’s fantasy Despite resistance from both heaven and earth We surmounted all the tribulations we did meet Through it all we grew as the best of companions Once just two strangers alone upon a street Yet it is right now that my tears do fall My hand no longer holding the softness I did care The angels came and took you away from me One day, my love, I pledge to join you there |
