634. I Hear

I hear the rain but see it not
My eyes have been blinded by lies
Forgiven for trespasses I now wander
Purity possible beneath thunderous skies
I sleep not for no rest for the weary
My travels will conclude beneath cold stone
No riches or pleasures can ever save me
Love remains elusive for those all alone
Once foolish with pride I drowned in intolerance
My life passed with the shedding of my hair
Triumphs mean nothing to those without scruples
Congratulations are silent when nobody’s there
Take heed those who think toward the future
Life lies not in those long days ahead
Enjoy the moments in which you’re now living
The best days of forever possible only in bed
