645. Electricity

Don’t you know what life is worth
Days wasted before that digital screen
Fingers dancing to and fro in great haste
Understanding not what purpose it does mean
Vocal chords succumb to a life soon decayed
Language given new meaning by new found text
Eyes grow and shrink with colors flashed too quickly
Dreams forgotten and replaced by what appears next
Technology overcomes the need to be a human
Metal and plastic creating a convenient identity
With the flick of a switch and a simple click
A curtain of insecurities hides what you want to be
Yet is there no desire to wish Edison never lived
Electricity possibly left to sail away with Ben’s kite
Progress moves quickly when we forget to live
Love awaits only those who venture into the night
