649. With Affection

I awoke to the sound of awkward silence
My bed empty save for me alone
Next to me lay not your presence
No evidence of a love outgrown
So heated were the days when passion burned
The need to consume our only one thought
Poetry and flowers and phone calls lasting ages
The culmination of searching finding the one we sought
Yet it changed as the seasons turned colder
The flaming ambers of delight no longer hot
How it happened neither of us had a reason
The fading of love not possible to be taught
Though life is passing as do our lives
I caught a glimpse of a remaining spark
It warmed my heart and made me remember
The soul thrives in lightness and never in dark
I now arise with the wisdom of your affection
Loneliness deserves not to imprison my soul
I strive to remember what god first gave us
For only with romance will love truly grow
