660. The Sun Does Arise

No mortal soul did grace His heart
Life given from a father not present
Pain endured for persons unknown
Understanding not the reason He was sent
The will to live succumbed to dying
Sins care not from which they breed
Prayer and temptation share the same bed
Salvation exchanged for mankind’s greed
Both wood and thorns adorned a crown
No kingdom lasts forever upon the earth
Men rise and fall by sword or life
Redemption offered freely upon every birth
Blood once red turns black as night
Color no longer needed by those who can’t see
Choices are sometimes easier when we’re blind
A single death secures not our destiny
Give praise to Him who came long before
Belief not a miracle did move a massive stone
Think long about what you’ve been given
It is what we don’t do that we surely must atone
For the sun does rise on this Easter day
Mankind’s future gifted from high above
Because he died we do now all live
Bless the Lord for His unselfish love
