79. Happiness

I dreamed I was a happy man
Sitting regally upon the throne

Then I realized there was no happiness
For someone who ruled alone

Riches and jewels and wealth in excess
Are but things that bring a smile

How can there ever be happiness
If you never walk down the aisle

Sure it’s great to play the field
And enjoy the hunt for pleasure

But when youth turns old and wrinkles appear
Wealth compared to happiness is just worthless treasure

I knew I was a happy man
Sitting contently by your side

For I held the hand of happiness
The beauty I now call my bride
