9. Confusion

Jumbled memories floating aimlessly in a sea of doubt
Coming and going amongst visions of past and present

Thoughts without purpose seeking hope and salvation
Amongst the tattered remnants of dreams already spent

Decisions contingent upon facts that will never be
Aborted before beginning by doubts and hesitation

To do or not to do becomes the primal key to living
Paralyzing the emotions with fear and no elation

Muscles strain and constrict beneath the moistened flesh
Waiting for the commands for action that never seem to come

The mind spins aimlessly in the darkened recesses of reasoning
Searching for signs of the truth and what it must become

From seconds to minutes to hours to days
The time really never matters for those frozen with such fear

To make any decision is an impossible task unless they lay aside rationale
And listen to the voices that their ears do not hear
